“30 percent of kids in the Congo have dropped out of school to mine metals,
the majority of which end up in cheap and disposable electronic products
bought by Americans.”

I just read this post and like the suggestions. Here is an excerpt:

I found this design to be cool and functional.
10 percent of all the electricity used in Europe in 2006 is consumed by street lighting. This is equal to 2,000 billion KWh, and resulting in 2,900 million ton of carbon emissions.

Wow, Ander just sent me a link which shows us being real oil pigs. We consume 20.5 thousand barrels of oil per day! That is over 24% of the world’s oil. I knew we were hogs, but seeing it visually helps me get it.
Go to http://media.ft.com/cms/19d4f43e-a1a5-11dc-a13b-0000779fd2ac.swf and see who produces oil and who the [...]

This is the most succinct and entertaining explanation of how stuff gets made and into our lives I have ever seen. Show it to your kids, your friends, and grandma - it is terrific! From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most [...]

wow, I just clicked on this and this is a different video than I was intending on putting up. Well, it still is very beautiful and I almost like it better without the voice over (though it is informative).
