“All of life is an experiment. The more experiments you make, the better.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
I recently was speaking with a young woman in her twenties about her life. She was so bright and enthusiastic and full of energy. The one thing that was bothering her though, was that she could not decide what to do with her life. There were too many different routes she could take and she was afraid of making the wrong decision.
Now that I am closing in on a half century old, I feel as if I am comfortable with the majority of the choices I have made so far – the crazy twists and turns that have led me to my current place. So what I would say is this, that you will go where your life needs you to go – it is all right. If there is too much to think about, then don’t think about it – take a break and let what is supposed to rise to the top. Life will change and move like a river, you cannot stop it. And why not explore different forks of the river once in awhile, couldn’t hurt. You will only learn more about yourself, which could be surprising!
